We were interested in having a small bathroom updated to increase the usability and resale value of the house. We began by having several contractors come through and provide estimates and ideas of how to improve the bathroom, while adhering to a strict budget.
By far, Matt Dehlendorf was the most professional and helpful of all the contractors that we dealt with. He was innovative, imaginative, realistic, and honest. Matt was upfront about what the costs would be and also what return we could expect out of certain upgrades.
Matt began the process by listening to what our ideas were and then he came back to us with a specific plan, estimate, and additional ideas for the bathroom. He proposed many features that we had not thought of and allowed us to have specific input. His proposal was a concise, accurate, and a working document up until the time the project began. Several times he explained that spending additional money in an area would not be increase our return. Once the project began he stayed within the proposed cost and also attempted to save us money whenever possible. He coupled these cost saving measures with making sure that our money went to features that made to remodel standout as a much more expensive upgrade.
During the demolition and remodel, he made himself accessible and available for any questions that would arise. He gave us an allowance to pick out what items we wanted and even offered to pick everything up from the store in which we found these items. Having a family of his own, Matt was also sensitive to the safety and protection of our children. He attempted to make the messy process of demolition go as quickly and smoothly as possible. He and his crew came when promised and worked late when necessary. Matt is enthusiastic and takes a genuine interest in the projects that he is working on for the homeowner. We had the sense that he had a personal stake in doing the project right, with whatever it took to complete it to the homeowners’ satisfaction.
Overall Matt Dehlendorf is a consummate professional, who does high-quality work at reasonable prices. Our finished product completely exceeded our expectations. We have already referred him to several of our friends. Without hesitation we would work with him again and expect to in the future.
